Hi

Just got a new Dell computer and notice tiny blue sparks when plugging in USB cables. Also one of them continually buzzed so I took it out. Is this normal or do I have a major prob?

as well as data USB carries 12V so afew sparks may occur

Sorry, but that's not quite true. It carries +5VDV as can be seen here or here. Still, if there is enough difference of potential, there could be a spark. Oddly, I just recently saw where a couple folks, not really paying attention, tried to insert a mic or headphone jack into the USB port on Toshiba laptops, shorting the 5VDC, and destroying the port. Not good.
