    Accessing a second HD from a main HD

    I have a computer that no longer works. If I get a new computer that runs, is it possible to connect the old HD to access the documents on it? I've got a lot of word files and music that I cannot reach at the moment and I'd hate to lose all that.

    Thanks.

    Welcome to DAL by the way;
    Yeh, it's pretty easy, you can just plug the old HD in right next to the new one, and it'll turn up in My computer.
    Apparently, you can reply without the aforesaid computer, so ask us again if you need help connecting it up.

    you'll have to make sure the one in the new machine is set to master the other as slave.

    Sweet. Thanks. Sounds pretty easy.

    And yes, I have yet another computer that I'm currently using (my laptop). Its my desktop that bit the dust.

    you may have trouble connecting a desktop hard drive to a laptop (they're different sizes)

    you could use something like this
