Hello everyone, first poster here. I have an irritating problem with my curser/mouse on a machine that I was recently given. It is an Advent 3209, Pent4 2Ghz, M/bd is Elite L4S5M, with SiS645 and 961 chipsets, Sys Mon is built in IT87051, originally on XP Home, then XP Pro, now W2k Pro. My problem is that, a few seconds after a cold start, the curser reacts totally out of proprtion to the mouse-ball movement, opening any window that it flashes past, and parking itself in the lower left corner. What I've tried so far; new mouse, new O/s's Bios upgrade, re-soldering pins of p2 socket, cleaning fans and heatsinks, re-pasting latter,running with cover on and off. All to no avail. I cannot move the curser at all after a couple of minutes, as when it fails to respond to the mouse, and eventually disappears from the monitor. The k/bd continues to function. Contacting you now on an older, slower PC. Are there any Pied Pipers out there who can give me something else to go at, or is this Mother Goosed? Hoping...Bob

Hi, welcome to DAL;
This is a ps/2 mouse, correct? Have you tried looking around in the BIOS settings of your pc? It sounds possible that something there may be the cause as you have tried so much else. On most pc's you can enter the BIOS by continually pressing delete when you turn on your pc. Be careful what you change though, if anything. I'm not sure what you would look for, but you know better than anyone else.

Thanks Novvy, but I've already deleted old bios and installed a newer version. Still the same. Tar anyway for responding. Bob.
