Unhappy Nothing Happening...Dead but Still Alive - PLZ HELP! :'(

Ive got a desktop system with an Asus P4P800 SE Mobo , I built this system just over 2 years ago.

One day, I turned on the comp and I realized tht the fanz...hardisk...mobo light is all on, but A. Nothing on the Monitor B. CD-Drive & Floppy are dead.

Tried restarting, hitting, and all sorts and nothing happened...Dead.

Thought it might be underpowered PSU, so bought a new one - no use.

I then tried isolating the problem by eliminating each working piece this is the evidence ive collected so far:

    1. Hardrive is working (makes usual sounds etc)

    2. The CD-Drive opens & closes fine when not connected to the board and instead just to the PSU but when connected to the board its dead.

    3. Keyboard n Mouse are powered up fine

    4. Monitor is working - tried with another computer

So I tried turning the system on after taking everything else out, just leaving the Mobo, CPU and the Graphics card with Monitor connected to see if anything happens...Same thing dead.

I reckon after all these experiments tht the Mobo has somehow messed up, it cud b the processor but I think the Mobo becoz e.g. CD-Drive doesnt work when plugged into it.

Plzz Can someone tell me if wht im thinking is most probably correct? Or is there something else tht cud be causing this???

The Mobo is still in Warranty so if it is faulty im just gonna have to go thru the whole returning process...but I need to be sure its the Mobo and not anything else thts gone wrong.

    Thank You loads in advance.

Im thinking maybe its the Mobo failing to distribute the power properly?

I dnt know wht cud have caused this, the last thing I done was install SP2 (cos I had to) , Im sure tht shudnt cause such a severe problem, confused

As far as I can remember, this has never happened before installing SP2, just randomly started in the last few days.

No, I dnt think ive ever had the POST beep, just used to hear the Hardrive moving etc, all these days its worked fine.

have you tried removing the CMOS battery removing all the connections to the motherboard leaving it for a while hopefully the BIOS should reset.
