    Gigabyte motherboard boot up problems

    Hi,
Hope you can help me. I have a boot problem with my machine. Gigabyte 7VM400M mother board and I have put in a new Q-Tec 550w power supply and now the machine does not boot. Power supply fans run ok, but no beeps or signs of life on the screen. The cpu fan starts, the amber RAM LED on the motherboard glows and nothing else. Any ideas?

    thanks

    Hi and welcome to D-A-L

Yes have cleaned and reconnected plugs and RAM etc. The new power supply has a dual 20/24 pin plug for both sort of board. My board is a 20pin.

The old power supply was dying after 20 mins. I have have tried the old PSU and its the same. Must be something I have done or the PSU is faulty and damaged the motherboard?. Is there a way to check the PSU?

    cheers

were you careful of ESD when inside the case?

    does the hard drive spin?

Think so.....earthed myself on the case and was very gentle. No life from the hard disk, but all fans turn

where did you get the PSU from, they may have testing equipment.

the only problem you had before changing PSU, was dying after 20 minutes?

Got the PSU from ebay from a good supplier, but guess it could be faulty. Might try to meter the supply pins tomorrow and see if voltages are there. Machine was fine before the psu change.
