Power supply, mother board, or something else?

My computer doesn't power up any longer. Absolutely nothing happens when I try to turn on. No beeps or sounds or any indication that something is happening inside. After doing some research online at various sites, it seems likely that my problem is either the power supply or mother board. When I opened up my computer to take a look, the led light on the mother board was lit up. Does this mean that it more likely the power supply?

    Thanks.

It's a Dell Dimension 4500. No lights or anything turn on when I press the button. It acts as if I'm doing nothing at all.

I think DELL may use different power supplies they have funny connection and are small.

    I've come across this replacement

Thanks for the links, but it turns out it's not the PSU. I took it out and tried it on another computer and it worked fine. Anyone else have any suggestions?

    Thanks

Unplug all non-essential components from the motherboard. Leave the front panel connector(s) connected. Leave the system speaker connected. Leave the processor, processor fan and power connector on. Now switch it on. If the board, processor and PSU are OK, then it will switch on and beep at you (or make a 'siren' warning sound). If you get nothing, then one of those 3 parts are at fault.

If you get nothing, then plug in one RAM module and run the test again, just to be sure. It shouldn't be the case any more but I've known systems in the past that wouldn't switch on if there was no RAM.
