    3 bad HD's in a week

    Hi all,

I have two hard drives in my Dell computer (Dim E510 see below). One was set up to mirror the other. Last week the primary drive failed. Dell replaced it and then after it was up and running for a couple of hours it also failed. Then will much time on the phone they discovered the second HD had also failed. So they are installing two more HD's today.

Dell has had me test most parts in my system, mother board, memory, video card, and now say all is well with the system. However, I'm concerned that something else is causing these HD failures.

Anyone have any ideas if something else could be at work here causing these failures?

    Thanks.

    Barbara

Dodgy power? Have you got the PC connected to a new surge protector power strip or a UPS or neither?

Once upon a time I had a power supply unit overpowering my secondary drive which would fry it. I lost & had to RMA about 2-3 of them before figuring out accidentally what the problem was. I replaced the PSU & have had no problems since. You might talk to the happy Dell people about replacing it if it is still under warranty. If it isn't then you can buy your own.
