DVD Rom?
Hi
For christmas i was bought a new computer, a packard bell istart 2369 pack (monitor, tower, keyboard etc) which is great and runs like a dream. the other day however i decided to buy Pro Evolution Soccer 6 for it. The game is a DVD-ROM game and when i first got it and put it into my computer it started making jerking sounds, which is how i can best describe it. nothing happens on the screen and no auto run menus appear. The sounds last for a few minutes before it gives up and if i access the DVD drive through my computer it thinks there is nothing in there. i examined the disk and there are no scratches or damage. My computer is easily powerful enough and can run the games requirements.
I put the DVD in my mums laptop which is a good 3 years old and the game straight away comes up with the autoload screen saying if i want to install it etc, that my new computer did not do. The fact it is a game is irrelevant because i can run DVD movies on my new computer with ease but i cannot understand why this happens.
On the front of the DVD drive says "DVD R/RW" in the middle with "R DL" underneath and on the left hand side says "DVD-R DL". i dont know what this means but i would be greatful for any help that i am given. i would like to know if it is going to be like this with all DVD ROM games or if there is a way around it.
My operating system is Windows XP Media Centre Edition and my mums laptop is Windows XP home edition.
Cheers

If you just purchased this computer it should still be under warranty. I recommend you contact whomever you purchased it from and have them repair the problem or replace the DVD Rom drive. If you try and fix the problem yourself you may void the warranty. Don't wait go ahead and call them right away or take the PC in for repair. HTH
