Laptop TV out through VGA
I have just bought an Acer Aspire 5102WLMi laptop and foolishly I didnt check that it had an s-video tv out. I am now trying to connect this to my TV (CRT) via the vga monitor out.
I am running XP, and have a ATI Radeon™ Xpress 1100 graphics card
I have bought a wire that has a vga connector at one end and an s-video out at the other (costing a couple of pounds only) and have connected this to my tv.
I then change to monitor 2 in my display properties, by selecting the "extend my desktop onto this screen" option. My laptop screen goes black for a second, then comes back on with the option unselected, and nothing appears on the TV screen. I have also tried using my F5 hotkey and this does nothing.
My question is: Is the problem that I am doing something wrong, or do I need to buy a vga to s video converter that seem to cost around £50? Or is it actually not possible to connect my laptop to the TV?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mike
