I have a Compaq Presario 5WV280 running Windows ME
When I put a disk into the DVD drive I get the message 'Please insert disk in drive E'
Please help.

Do you only have one CD or DVD drive? Does it appear as the E:\ drive in Windows Explorer or My Computer? The reason that I ask is that the D:\ drive is more common for CD and DVD drives.

No, the CD drive is separate and is listed as F drive. That works fine.
The DVD comes up as E in My Computer and in Device Manager.
They do share a ribbon cable.
