    2.1 Speakers Problem

I recently bought an Altec Lansing VS2321 2.1 speaker system. There are no drivers included. I first plugged it into the green socket. However, 1 satellite speaker doesn't work, but the other and the subwoofer do. I then plugged it into the blue socket. Now all of the 3 speakers work. However, Youtube, Google Video and other internet video sites don't work.

    All help will be appreciated

In a 2.1 configuration, the first satellite speaker is normally connected to the second satellite speaker and the second satellite then plugs into the subwoofer. Alternatively, both satellites might plug into the subwoofer. The subwoofer is then connected to the green speaker output on the sound card. If you use a blue output on the sound card, this is usually because you have two cables to plug in and you have already used the green output. How is yours cabled?

When you say that Internet video sites don't work, do you mean that the sites load and you can see the video playing but you get no sound output?

You potentially have a faulty sound card but it is more likely that the cabling is incorrect.

This is how I connected it. As you see, there is only one line to plug in. And for the internet sites, the video loads and plays, but there is no sound output. I found out if windows media player opens from the internet it still works.

OK, that makes sense. It should definitely work through the green speaker output on the sound card. What happens if you do not connect the satellite speakers to the subwoofer and instead you connect only the two satellites to the green speaker output?

There is no sound because the subwoofer is connected to the power source.

OK. Sometimes the satellite speakers can work independently from the subwoofer (taking their power from the sound card) but it looks like yours don't.

Coming back to what you were saying about web sites working if Media Player opens, is that true if the speakers are plugged into the green output on the sound card? If that works, then it proves that your sound card and speakers both work correctly and, instead, you have a software-related issue.

When I plug it into the green output, both internet opened Media Player and Youtube work. And about the software, I have Soundmax.

Out of both satellite speakers or just one?

Just one, the one without the power button and all the wires.
