Monitor problem

    Monitor problem

    Every time my girlfriend's sister starts her laptop, all she gets is a black screen. any clue what would be causing this?

    Is it a new problem? Is it totally dark (black) or can you barely perceive some image? What is the make and model of the laptop.

    same model as last time (Compaq NX6110, but its a different computer). the screen is completely black.

    Is it the same on both battery and AC adapter?

    Do other aspects of the laptop appear to start OK? LED keyboard lights etc. ?

    everything starts up normally except for the screen. the AC adapter is broken so i can only test it by battery

    Try an external monitor.

    Otherwise if it is still under warranty return it to the appropriate source.

    If beyond warranty you probably need a repair shop.
