Would appreciate advice on the following....i'm looking to buy a desktop that i can watch TV on,as well as playing DVD's etc.Do i need one with a built in tuner,which seem to be quite expensive,or can i buy a cheaper model and add something to it.
Am not sure if i'll be able to do it as i only want to spend about 400 quid.
Would the computer need to have windows media centre?

Also if i want to link two computers,do they both have to have identical OS?

Hello, and Welcome to D-A-L.

Just get a video card with a tuner. I use an ATI All-In-Wonder 128 AGP video card. This way if the tuner gets fried I just get a new card. XP doesn't mind a new card. However a new motherboard (with a built in tuner, if that's what you meant) is a different matter as that would demand a reinstall of the O/S.
