cannot play or install cd's
i think this is due to having 2 compact disc drives D: & E: in the my computer section,i think it may have something to do with the registry am not sure can anybody help ?

Is this a new problem?
Did this/these drives ever work OK?
Do you have two CD drives?
What is your Operating System?
-
yes its a new problem before in the my computer section my drive list used to be A:FLOPPY DISK C:LOCAL DISK D: (PICTURE OF CD DRIVE) E:COMPACT DISC just like
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:W...nd_Edition.png
but now the blank D:drive has been replaced by compact disc which is already on E: and iv never had 2 cd drives.
am on win2k.

Do you have CD and DVD drives installed? They may appear as two separate ones if you do.
So the label on both drives is CD-ROM?
Could be that yourself or someone just changed the HDD icon. I doubt it though as that requires quite a few manual steps.
What happens if you double-click the new CD-drive "E:\" ?
-
nope all i got it is the 1 normal cd drive.
the label on both drives just says compact disc.
when i double click E: it says' the disk in drive E: is not formatted.'
-
It could be a virtual drive - I doubt it's CloneCD's virtualdrive as that would be a picture of a sheep, maybe you installed DaemonTools? Or a similar program...
-
i dont think its that as i have not installed anything lately but do u think it could be down to the wrong registry values
-
Well I know little about the registry to be honest
So it could be, or not. So when you put a CD in can you not access it by double-clicking either of the two drives? Or have you not tried this? You could always try a system restore if possible, if it has happened recently so you do not lose other settings you may have applied. Do you know what circumstances LED to you having two drives? ie. what did you install/alter/whatever before the 2nd drive appeared - if anything, reversing this could help.
I'm just trying to provide a little quick response help before the elite members help you. Just telling you to try things I would try in order to resolve it.

Do a system search (Winkey+F) on your main hard-drive for d347bus.sys
Let us know what you get.
