    Mouse problem

When I boot my computer the curser will not move. I have restarted the computer; unpluged/replugged the mouse when the computer is on and when it is off, run virus scans, changed mice and nothing has produced different results. Right now I'm working with a mouse which connects into a USB port until I fix the other problem. I am asuming the problem lies with the actual mouse port but I wanted to check to see if maybe there is something I am missing that you know. My computer is running on Windows XP. Thanks.

It sounds like your PS/2 port is not working. If the USB is fine then I would just go with that.

Otherwise you could try to reload your motherboard or chipset drivers.

There is also the possibility that the port has mechanically failed.

You cannot hotplug a PS/2 port but if you make your changes with the computer off it should register.
