One monitor two screens problem
Hi got new pc swapped ram over from old one, ram is now fine, swapped graphics card over, problems.
Got a GeForce 5200, onces installed it gives me two monitor screens in properities, we have just one monitor, and we do not know how to get the 2nd display to work with GeForce card and then turn off built in graphics in the 1st display.
Its driving us crazy, as I want to play my online games etc, but built in card just cannot handle the pressure so need GeForce problem with duel screens fixed, please help.
Its a Iqon pc and monitor is Philips

In general the dual screens in Display Settings indicate the possible out ports of your card. VGA and DVI and or TV Out for example.
That being said you should be able to Disable your on-board graphics in the Device Manager under Display Adapters. Right click your on-board device and choose Disable.
Right click My Computer then click Manage then Device Manager

I've never used a GeForce 5200 before but I think I know the screen that you mean in Display Properties where it shows you two screens and gives you options for extending the desktop over two monitors or only using monitor 2, etc. You get this on laptops, which have the capability of sending their graphics signal to the laptop's internal display panel and/or an external TV or monitor. In those cases, though, I've never seen any way in which that might have options for choosing which graphics card you are using.
If you think about that scenario, it doesn't make any sense. You would only see a picture on your monitor being generated by the on-board graphics if the monitor was actually plugged into the on-board graphics port. If the monitor is plugged into your GeForce 5200 card and you are getting a signal to it, then it is using the GeForce card, not the on-board chip. However, if what you're saying is that you don't get a signal to the monitor if you plug it into the GeForce card, then you need to either try what Jephree said - disable the on-board graphics in Device Manager to let the GeForce take over - or disable it in the BIOS so that Windows doesn't even see an on-board graphics chip.

We disabled the graphics card from control pannel, went f1 to disable there, but was not sure which bit it was, and he changed something to pci setting thinking it was graphics card just installed but now it dont load in past first black screen with F8 and Del at bottom of screen?

Assuming that, by pressing F1, you mean that you entered the BIOS (pre-Windows hardware setup screen), then boot the PC into the BIOS again and change the graphics card setting back from PCI to 'AGP' or 'on-board' depending on which option you have and what it was set to before.
If that doesn't help, then the problem is due to disabling the graphics card in Windows. In this case, boot the PC normally but, when the "Loading Windows ........" screen appears, press F8 to access the startup options. Choose the option to boot into 'Safe Mode' or 'VGA Mode' (depending on your operating system). This will load Windows without any drivers apart from the minimal versions of disk controller and graphics drivers needed to load Windows up. Once you are booted into Windows, you can then re-enable the graphics card in the same way as you disabled it previously. Then reboot the PC normally.
Let us know how you get on
