    Smile screen display problem

I bought a 15" samsung monitor not knowing it has a screen display problem. Anytime the monitor is plugged on.it displays :"screen resolution:1024 x768?"
I have tried on several occassions using different CPU'S to get through with this problem but to no avail.i have tried correcting the display properties of the monitor. No way,i could not get through. As at this moment i have not been able to find a solution yet. I have lost the warant to the monitor. All i need is your advise, on how i can get over the problem.
    Regards,
    pat.

Try booting the PC into Safe Mode (or VGA Mode) by pressing the [F8] key as soon as it shows "Windows is starting up". I'm assuming here of course that the monitor does display something when you switch it on but then it goes completely blank when Windows has started up. If you never see anything on the screen at any time, then it sounds like it's just broken and needs to be thrown away.

Of course, if you bought it new from a shop and it's faulty, then the law is generally that it has to work for a reasonable amount of time (up to a year) or you can take it back and have it repaired or replaced .... even if you don't the receipt or warranty card. If the shop doesn't want to help you, then they have to prove that you DIDN'T buy it from them - you don't have to prove that you DID.

If, on the other hand, you paid a tenner for it second-hand on Ebay, then you'll have to throw it away and buy another one!

    Hope that helps
