I have a friend who can only intermittently connect to the Internet. She has a PCTel Platinum V.90 modem (Compaq computer). We've uninstalled/reinstalled the modem and the software for it but to no avail.

She is currently running Windows XP. I tried to update the drivers for the modem, but could not locate a driver for Windows XP, only Windows ME, 98, etc. Can anyone help?

She might have an network ethernet card installed in her pc...would that cause conflict?
