Are you saying the BIOS won't recognize it? Or XP?
Is it a SATA or IDE/ATA?
-
-
If the BIOS doesn't see it you might need to upgrade the BIOS.
Older motherboards have limitations on drive size.
What is the make and model of the motherboard?
-
not sure about the make or model, its a fujitsu siemens scenic x102 pc i baught it in june.
-
I am having a hard time narrowing down the limitations there:
Fujitsu Siemens scenic x102
http://support.fujitsu-siemens.com/c...downloads.html
Hard Drive Capacity 80 GB
Hard Drive Interface DMA/ATA-100 (Ultra)
Controller Type DMA/ATA-100 (Ultra)
http://www.dealtime.co.uk/xPF-Fujits...GB_DVD_XP_HOME
The ATA 100 might be just as limiting as the size. I would assume your new drive is ATA 133?
Anyway I will continue to search. You can check from the Fujitsu Siemens' site whether or not you have the latest BIOS but they were all 2005/06.
-
Also are you sure that the jumpers are set correctly?
-
on the harddrive it says no jumper for slave

Check that the Master is set to Master and not Cable Select.
-
the master is set as master,
on the bios boot screen it says
boot sequence
