    Coffee spilt in laptop

    Help!
Ive just spilt some coffee in my laptop. the cup was on top of it and it was closed...
so it wouldnt have gone in through the keyboard, i cleaned it up and now the middle light wont come on (it wont power up) the standby button will flash when you turn it on, and the battery charging light comes on when i charge it.

its possible some went in at the back USB area and possibly where the wireless card goes.
    am i screwed!?

I Would most likely say that if it worked before you split the coffee on it and after you split coffee on it you most likely got a little water/coffee or cleaner that you used in the computers internal parts and most likely broke it.

Now if its a newer laptop there should be a warrenty i don't know if your laptop has the wrrenty though

    A very common accident.
It appears the general advice is to let it dry out for a day or 2, maybe speeded up with the use of a cool hairdryer and hope for the best.

Make model and age are good questions to have answered. Jaynee is right for the wait and see. Most brand name computers once a liquid is spilled on them you should shut down immediately and attempt to dry off (towel, hairdryer, wet/dry vac) and then hope for the best. After 24hrs drying if the above drying aids are not employed, should tell you if its going to be fine. If you used the drying aids, then in about an hour after dried it will either boot or not.

    Hi all
There has been a development on my laptop/spillage situation.
It now turns on, it comes up with a blue screen and a message which says something like "your latop has been shut down to save it from any errors... " and lots more information.
i can write down all what it says if need be. i just wondered if this is a positive sign the fact that it is now powering up.. whether i might be able to AT LEAST put in a new start up disk and wipe it all nd start a fresh?
    thanks

    Hi all

So, i turned on my laptop this morning after a spillage on saturday and it does log on and goes to the desktop...
this is positive! does this mean that it is all OK?

Is there any kind of test i can do to see if it is running as it should be?

    thanks

Are you having any problems as you use it?
