Hi
Can someone help? My sons computer came up with a blue screen for no reason and switched itself off. Now when he turns it on he gets nothing on the monitor the motherboard light comes on but that is all no fans start up nothing.
Any idea what could be the problem?
Should he just dump it
Many thanks
J
could be the CPU but you should still have fans and if it was the PSU you would not get the mobo light
check the power connections to the motherboard (there is a long one and a square 4-pin one)
what is the make and model of the pc?

apparently he tried to upgrade the drivers for his verto graphics card from a disk someone gave him, it all went blue shut down so he removed the graphics card and put it back in but then it went blue again and shut down and nothing would start up after that apart from the light on the mother board
try turning it off at the wall for about 30 seconds and then turning it back on.
is there onboard graphics?
do you get any beeps?
He said that he installed a new graphics driver from a disk someone gave him that they had download for him, but it was the wrong one it was for xp professional 64 bit and his is 32bit. He got the blue screen so he uninstalled the new driver and reinstalled his old one that is when the problem started. He turned the pc on it all started up but then he got a blue screen and it shut down when he tried to restart the pc he said it starts up but then dies and the motherboard light stays on. He does not have onboard graphics he has tried taking the bios battery out since but that didnt work and he has turned the power off from the plug and still the same it all starts then dies.
oh and still nothing on the monitor he said its like its gonna all load but it dies and just the motherboard light is on.
