Re: Monitor Blacks Out Every Few Seconds

Hi. i have a LGE 17" TFT that is having the exact problem. I have to warn you on a matter here though.

At first I could switch it off/on and it would function for at least a day. Then it decreased to a few hours and slowly but surely now to a few milliseconds! All in the space of 3-4months.

Now it only comes on and then instantly switches back off again- black. Another on/off would get you the same response.

I would very gratefully also want to know what the problem to this is. My monitor is 8 months old.

    Cheers

I split this thread as no problems are exactly the same and it also makes it more difficult to resolve with more that a single focus.

In your situation I would consider returning the monitor as most current monitors carry three year warranties.

Yes thanks Jephree. Problem arises as the shop I bought it off has moved abroad

So I'm stuck not knowing anything much about this monitor.

Sorry about the "intrusion" into the other thread and I would appreciate some help further.

If I was to try a system restore... what would I loose (since its been 3 months having this problem & most [90%] of my work/software has been placed on in this time)?

I think I also chose an option (to speed up memory etc) where you delete your restore points BUT the most recent... :worried:

BTW I've tried this monitor with two separate, different spec and age PC's and its the same problem. Trying the cable today and will update you on that appropriately. I've tried another monitor with both PC's and its perfect (though not the same brand, model, type).

    TIA

    Sounds like a bad monitor.

    Cheers Jephree!

All fixed. How? Don't ask me.

Its been playing up for 3 months and when me and a tech friend were about to open up the monitor.. a last try by swapping the cable ends and guess what happened??

Yes, it came on and stayed on perfectly!

And its still running perfectly. All I can say is swap or switch cable ends, and don't tighten them with a screw drive - just enough with your hands is possible and that should work.

Thats all, thanks a lot for all the help
