Hi, can anyone help?
I have recently purchased a new Sony DVD/CD re. writer. I have fitted it into PC but am having problems getting identified. I have connected to the ribbon cable in line with the existing CD drive but the PC keeps seeing it as exisiting cd drive. Can you please assist in identifying where I am going wrong. Thanks

Just to verify you put it on the middle (grey) plug on the same cable as the existing CD drive?

If so did you set the jumpers to slave if the existing CD drive is Master. Or else set both to Cable Select.

Actually the best set up would be to put the new DVD/CD RW as Master and the existing CD (old) as slave. This is best for burning.

As you change them about set both jumpers to Cable Select and then the end (black) plug will be Master and the middle (grey) slave.

Hi, Thanks for replying..brilliant. I have not yet checked info you have supplied on PC but I can confirm that I have put it on the same grey ribbon as the already installed CD drive. I did alter the jumpers as I understood they needed to be but I guess I have got this wrong. I will follow your instrcutions and get back to you. Once again in the meantime, thanks.
