I have a Sony VAIO VGN-S170 laptop that was purchased roughly 1 year and a half ago. For the last few months, I would be able to turn on my computer and the computer would start but the monitor would not. However, this would only require a few manual restart before it would start working again. After that, my hard drive was fried and needed to be replaced. The monitor problem has worsen and it now takes about 80 restarts (me sitting in front of the computer clicking the power button continuously) until the monitor display would start up. Yesterday, I tried for an entire hour but nothing happened. I am wondering why this is so and if it is fixable. (1700 for using a laptop for 1 year is a hefty price).
