    Quick question about RAM

Alright, I have a custom built PC and I made it myself. I have 512 ram and 1GB ram. Is there any benefit to buying the same brand of ram. Because I want to upgrade from 1.5 to 2GB and I'm wondering if there is anything that is good about having the same brand of ram?

brand- no i dont think so
    speed- yes

if you have 2 different speeds, then all your sticks of ram will run at the lower speed so as long as the speed is the same, your ok (i.e PC3200)

If you have a dual Channel Board it would be best for you to have 2 X 1gb sticks of the exact same brand/speed of ram to take advantage of dual channel. Better RAM usually yeilds better latencies than the cheaper stuff. (Its faster) If you are not big into games and things like that just any ole value ram stick will suffice tho. Being that you ahve a Celeron 2.2Ghz its probably running on a 200Mhz FSB which would mean you want to get PC3200 ram which is DDR400.
