Hi

I need to decide whether to purchase a 10 metre monitor cable for a projector.
The computer is already connected to two monitors via a twin dvi graphics card. But i need to connect this projector which is 10 metres away via a monitor cable rather than a video cable to keep the sharpness of the pictures. The projector has a VGA monitor port not a DVI port.

What i intend to do is buy a monitor splitter of some kind, place it on one of the graphics card ports and connect a monitor and projector on one port.

There are some issues i'm worried about and mainly regarding quality of the picture due to the 10 metre cable.

1. Will a y splitter be good enough to power down a 10 metre monitor cable.
2. Should i buy a 10 metre dvi monitor cable rather than vga (d-sub) cable and buy a dongle converter to fit on the projector. (i.e. does DVI keep the crisp picture better than a VGA would over long distances)
3. Is it wise to go for a powered monitor splitter?
4. With monitors which contain two in ports (DVI and VGA) can they decide which connection to use if both ports are live?? if i try it will it blow the monitor up???

If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations please post.
