I have Windows 98

Four years back I fitted a D-Link CD burner with Nero 5
The first three years I burned CDs every 3 months, no problems. I used both CD-R and CD-RW

Last year year I could not burn any discs. If I tried 50 times I only succeeded once. I was using CD-RWs. Then I just used CD-R and it worked OK.

A few months after the same problem showed up.
Was getting these error messages

1 - medium speed error
2 - Invalid write state
3 - Could not perform end track
4 - Burn process failed

So I gave up and uninstalled NERO

I installed CHEETAH and straight away it worked OK

A few months later CHEETAH would not work. I had a registered program. So I uninstalled and re installed CHEETAH. Still could not burn any type of CD

I could read my old CDs OK

Removed CHEETAH and installed COOL BURNER. Like CHEETAH this would not burn, although on 4 occasions it said -- BURN COMPLETED -- but I could not find anything on the CDs. Tried many times but negative.

So, removed COOL BURNER and re installed my old NERO 5 program

I am having the same problem with error messages as I have shown you above

Tried different speed but no luck. It does say -- caching of files complete -- but it stops shortly after and the same error messages show up.

Any ideas Please ?
