CPU Shutdown Problem
Hi, I have a problem with my PC. Recently it would randomly shut down but the power light would stay on. A freind advised me that it could be the power supply unit. After discovering this was faulty and changing it I attempted a reboot. Unfortunately the problem still persists and now the computer shuts down while the harddrive is being reformatted so I cannot load Windows XP back on to the computer. Does anyone know what is causing the problem and how can I stop it?
Thx all

How did you discover that the Power Supply was faulty?
Did you replace it with an equivalent model?
So now you are booting the XP CD and the system shuts down during setup?
Why did you feel the need to reinstall XP at this point?
Does the system run if you do not boot a CD?
Have you removed all peripheral devices?
Try to run with just CPU; PSU; one stick of RAM and the graphics card.
If this runs add the CD drive. If this runs add the HDD. If this runs try to install XP.
