Interesting problem. I to am having trouble with installing a 5440 on an e-machine computer. One of my friends asked me to help after having trouble. System goes through the install, and usb autodetects when plugged in.

Trying to print, the printer feeds paper, prints a black line, and quits. I can print a couple of words from notepad or wordpad, but anything of any size, graphics, and even the printer test print will not work. Have removed software, and drivers a number of times, all with the same results.

Might have to try installing on a different computer, to determine if it is the system, or the printer.
