Hello,
I've got a Canon i560 and everytime I print, I would get a Printer Status window which would tell me how much ink I have left on the printer and other useful information.
Recently, I bought a D-Link router and now my printer is connected to the router and shared among the other users.
The problem I am facing is that now, every time I print, the printer status pops up and it says: Printer Not Responding BUT the printer prints normally.
Is there a way to fix the "Not Responding" and make it retrieve the information from the printer again?
If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations, I would really appreciate it.
Thanking in advance,

Is your printer actually physically connected through a network (ethernet) cable to the router or do you just mean that it's 'connected to the router' by the fact that it is plugged into your PC that is connected to the router?
Do all of the PCs on the network have this problem or is there one PC that is acting as the print server that doesn't have the problem?
Sounds to me like a two-way communication problem. Traditionally, printers would receive a signal from the PC and that would be it. But most printers now need two way communication in order to provide status updates, ink level information, etc. back to the PC. If this two-way communication fails, it is feasible that the PC would think that the printer isn't responding.
The Printer is connected to the router via USB.
Yep, all the PCs have the same problem and I'm not too familiar with Print Servers but the router came with an installation CD which installed a "Print Server" software on my Computer but my computer gets the same "Not Responding" Message back.
How would I be able to fix the Two Way Communication problem?
Any Ideas, suggestions, greatly appreciated.

I emailed D-Link (Router's Manufacturer)
And they say:
But is there a way to overcome this? The Print Server's on the Router are only one way directional, they will not report both ways and therefore will not report to your Canon's Software.
Perhaps adding software or inexpensive harware?
Any Suggestions / Recommendations ; Greatly Appreciated

The only possible solution to that would to be get a dedicated print server plugged into the router with an ethernet cable. Even then, you may still have the problem though![]()
Thank You for the suggestion !![]()
But I think I'm just gonna connect the Printer to my PC and share it from my PC, hopefully that solves the problem.
Thanx again,
