Microphone trouble
Ok so i decided to go out and get a mic so i could talk to my sister in iraq. I got home and plugged it in and tested it out. I can hear just fine but i can not talk. I wiped my computer a few weeks ago and reinstalled all the sound and video drivers. I have tried to reinstall drivers but i might not have gotten the right ones. any help would be appreciated.
thanks again

may sound obvious, but if you havnt already, click start> control panel
In category view, click sounds, speech and audio devices, where it says "see also" in the left hand column, click "Advanced volume control" click "options" go to "properties" and click "recording" click ok make sure the microphone is selected and the volume bar is not at the bottom (it should be about halfway or 3 quarters up) close the volume control and try again.
if you still have problems click start>accesories>entertainment> sound recorder and record something, play it back to see if it works, if it does then it is a setting on the application that you are using.
Hope this helps
Mike
