    Not sure where to start.

Ok, I'll start by naming what's in my computer.

    I have a soyo dragon 2 plus motherboard. 1g ddr ram. I have a 250Gb Western Digital hard drive (Just bought) . A 128mb nvidia geforce 5200fx. I have a firewire 2.0 pci card. A no name dvd/cdr-rw burner.

Here is my problem. A few days ago. My computer turned off for no reason. I go to restart it. I start getting Unbootable harddrive errors. After a day of trying to fix it. I go and by the WD 250g hard drive. I instail that into my computer. Now I go to instail windows xp pro onto the New ,fresh hard drive. Now when it detects my IDE primary's and slaves. Next to my primary where my cd drive should be thiers' a bunch of "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I don't know what else to say. It won't let me instail windows xp because It doesnt' see the cd drive. The jumper settings on the drives are correct and the IDE cables are fine. Just bought new rounded ones. I don't know what to do. Thx in advanced.

Are you speaking of a BIOS Error?

Are you sure that the BIOS supports a drive that large?

    SOYO BIOS here (if neccessary):

    http://www.soyousa.com/downloads/?la...nglish&gtype=3

Did you remove the old hard drive?

In general your HDD should be Primary Master and your DVD/CD Secondary Master.

Have you tried this setup? Adjusting drivers accordingly.

Does the BIOS run thru it's POST? Then you press Delete to enter Setup? And you get a flashing cursor?

Where exactly were you getting a warning about the CD drive?

If I don't go into bios. I would get the cd drive warning. Unbootable Mount.

Excalty On with the flashing cursor. As soon as I hit delete to enter bios setup. It just becomes a flashing cursor.

Were you ever able to enter your BIOS Setup?

Are you booting the XP CD in the CD drive?

Is the CD drive set to boot prior to the hard drive?

Have you changed the configuration to Primary Master: HDD > Secondary Master DVD/CD?

If you cannot enter the BIOS Setup flashing the BIOS might be the most expedient route.

Find your exact (and I do mean exact) motherboard model here:

    http://www.soyousa.com/downloads/?la...nglish&gtype=3

Find the latest BIOS upgrade (plus you probably need the Awdflash.exe as well).

You load the BIOS and the Flash Utility onto a floppy and boot it.

Most likely there will be a READ ME file in the download with specific instructions.

Ok, I found my exact motherboard model. I downloaded the latest Bios. I put them on a floppy. I inserted the floppy in my computer. It just doesn't boot from the floppy or Cd drive. I"m 100% sure that I have the floppy, cd drive put on the motherboard right. Any other things to do.
