Ive just bought a LiteOn DVD CD RW, SHM-165P6S, which installed OK on my WinXP SP2 system. Then I installed Power DVD 6 and the Nero 6 programs that came with it .The problem is that when I insert Movie DVD, sounds come out OK, but video is missing.

Pentium 4, 1.7GB Cpu, 384 MB ram.

The first thing that you should do to address this kind of problem is ensure that you have the latest available version of DirectX - this is Microsoft's driver subsystem that deals with pretty much all aspects of multimedia. The DirectX web site is at http://www.microsoft.com/directx.

If there's a bug in the version of DirectX that you already have, then the latest version might fix it. If you have an inconsistency, such as a corrupted file, in your DirectX installation, then re-installing the same version or a later version will replace dodgy files that might be causing problems.

Thanks DJN, the problem was found to be my PCI video card. After I replaced it with an AGP card the system worked great.
