Hi everyone,
Hope that someone can help with my problem.
Just 18 months ago I purchased a brand new pc, complete with an LCD monitor.
The Monitor is a 17inch BenQ LCD FP737s-D.
Up until only the other day the monitor working just fine.
Then all of a sudden....it just died on me. I just turned my back for a sec and next thing I know its dead?
I cant get any picture or image at all. Just a black screen.
I've tried plugging the LCD monitor into my old pc, but still nothing!
So the problem must be the LCD monitor.
What could I have done that may have caused me to kill my monitor?
Is it repairable?
If so, is it worth fixing?
Thanks in advance.
Any advice given will be greatly appreciated![]()
That model like most LCD monitors carry a 3 year warranty.
Whoever sold it to you should make good on that warranty.
Who was the computer manufacturer that sold the monitor?
Yep, thankfully it does come with the three year warrenty
But Im just wondering if it could have been anything that I did to to it that may have caused it to cark it?
Now I have to chase up the guy that built the computer for me![]()
Probably nothing that you did.
Does it get any signal? Does the light go from amber to green? Does it light at all?
Is there a transformer on the power line? Does it indicate green?
Otherwise there is little that you could have done. I have replaced many LCD monitors via their manufacturers and there is generally no question within the 3 year period.
Sometimes they just go.
Thanks Jephree,
Its a bit of a relief to know that I didnt do anything to damage it.
Yes there is a light next to the on/off button, however it remains the same colour.
Cant remember if it shows up as green or as amber?
All I do know is that it just stays the one colour until I turn it off.
Transformer on the power line? Im not sure if I have one.
Where would I find it, if I did have one?
The main power line exiting the monitor often has a transformer before it plugs into the wall outlet.
Again this will usually have a small light either green (good) amber (standby/?) or black/dark (no good).
Amber lights are usually indicative of a standby mode whereas green are go or active.
There is very little that you could have done to damage such a monitor short of dumping fluids onto it.![]()

I have used one of those spray on fluid type of kits that I sprayed onto the monitor and then wiped off with the microfibre cloth that was supplied with the kit.
Could I have possibly sprayed on too much of the solution, thus killing my monitor?

NO.
I was referring to like dumping a pitcher of water onto the top of it.

Phewww, thank goodness for that![]()
I almost gave myself a mild heart attack.
As for the transformer on the power line, nope I cant see one?
The only light display that I can see, is the light next to the on/off button at the front of the monitor![]()
In any case, there must be something wrong with my monitor as is it simply refuses to work.
I think I will take your advice and call the guy that sold it to me, and hope that he gets me a replacement model asap
Thank you so much for all your advice, it's greatly appreciated!
Cheers
