Suggest New MOBO/CPU
I have a eMachines T3256. My house's power went off, then came back on the other day. Now, when I turn on the computer, the hard drive light comes on and stays on, the cooling fans work and that's all. The power switch on the front won't even turn it off. I have to unplug it. There is no POST beep or any indication that anything is happening. I've unplugged all cords from back, left the CMOS battery out for several hours, reseated the memory, removed the modem, still nothing. I don't have another CPU to stick in it.
Now I'm in the market for a new motherboard/CPU that will fit electronically & physically. Emachines wants 160.00 just for the MOBO. I don't do much gaming, limited budget. Any suggestions?

have you tried the power supply like jephree suggested here? http://www.d-a-l.com/help/showthread.php?t=44194

I'm going to try the power supply first. Will most any ATX 20 pin PSU work?

I'm not too sure on Emachines power supplies but there can be no harm in trying.
if the mobo and CPU are fried it may be cheaper to buy a board and processor but not from Emachines, as I should imagine most ATX boards should fit
