Hi,

I pulling up regular random reboots in XP SP2. Intially I stopped at a BSOD and was given an error code 0x0000009c which is a Machine Check Exception and thus a hardware issue. I have done quite a bit of research so I am fairly well schooled up on this but my question is......

Why when I examine the error logs in Event Viewer am I not getting any log entries despite all my settings being correct and why has it stopped showing me a BSOD despite Automatic Restart being turned off.

Also I would like some advice with regards to possible causes. I have run a complete RAM diagnostic both quick and deep on each individual stick and all together and pulled up nothing. I have pulled out the PSU and tested it on my own machine (this is my parents setup btw) and it came out fine despite my own probably pulling twice as much power. I have stripped it back to bare bones and tested. I have also disabled External and Internal Cache's (seperately) in the BIOS which interestingly enough failed to replicate an error reboot. Am I looking at a CPU L1 or L2 cache failure? Or could it possibly be a Graphics card issue as the card in there is pretty old.

Anyway my spec's are:

XP SP2
AMD Athlon Socket A (462) 2600+ with heat sensitive heatsink and fan
Soltek SL-75FRN2-RL Mobo
512mb Asus RAM
Winfast nVidia GeForce 2 Ti graphics
400w PSU

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
