Saturday night we lost power for 6 hours...It was due to heavy rains...not an electrical storm..
My computer was on and hooked up to a power strip when we lost the power. The next morning, I tried to turn it on and and nothing happened. The speakers and moniter hooked to the same power strip were fine. I took out a power supply from another computer and hooked it up...and nothing. Same with a replacement power cord. There is a small green light on inside when the unit is plugged in, so there is power at least getting to the inside.
Any help would be VERY appreciated!
Thank you in advance!
Just to verify: you have a green LED on the motherboard which is on?
Do you get any beeps when you power on?
If LED: yes and Beeps: No then try the following:
Remove any peripheral devices connected to this computer.
With the computer unplugged remove the motherboard battery.
If you see a 3 pin jumper next to the battery (perhaps labeled CCMOS or JBAT) then move the jumper (sleeve) from pins 1&2 to pins 2&3.
After a few minutes reverse the jumper back to 1&2 and replace the battery and try again to power up.
While you are in there you might as well re-seat the RAM and Graphics Card. Try to start with the case open and verify that the CPU fan is running. Feel the air coming off that fan and see if it gets warm.
You say that the monitor works. Do you get a No Signal message when you power up?
Thanks for the reply jephree.
The green light on the motherboard is on and is the only sign of life in the unit. There are no beeps, etc. When I press the on switch...absolutely nothing.
I tried what you recommended...I found a 3 pin jumper marked bios config and moved that along with taking the battery out...when I replaced them...nothing.
I do get a no signal message from the monitor when it is hooked up to the CPU.
This thing presently (apart from the little green light) shows no sign of life!
Any more thoughts?
