    Unable to locate removable device

    Hi,

I was hoping somebody could give me some advice/help with the following. A few months I had a cd drive and an external cd/rw. I then bought an internal dvd/rw to replace the previous set up. It seems to work ok but I have just bought an mp3 player and when I connect it to the pc via a usb port it is telling me there is a mass storage device but it is not showing on windows explorer as an e:drive or f:drive. When the mp3 player is connected my pc seems to struggle to run programs. I hope that this makes sense and would really appreciate any help.

    Thanks

    Peter

Look at my previous thread, instead of chasing software problems look at power you may need another USB cable to supply additional power or plug the mp3 into mains if it has its own power source.

Not sure you got my reply on the other thread. Try connecting your mp3 with its own mains power source hooked up. My device came with a USB power cable that fitted into a jack plug socket on the device, it said only need when running off low power systems like lap tops so never considered it to be the problem. If your MP3 drains power from the computer it may be the problem when you have it connected.
