When I put a cd or dvd into my cd drive nothing happens. I went to My Computer and brought up the properties for this drive and the message shown was:

Device Status - Windows cannot initialize the device for this hardware (Code 37)!!!

I followe the instructions on the troubleshoot and uninstalled and reinstalled the hardware. My computer found the new hardware, installed then a message popped up saying error found hardware may not work properly. I then tried updating the drive but there are no updates!! I have also tried registry mechanic to see if that picked up the error but to no avail!!! I am stumped does anyone please have any suggestions I cant think of anything else to try

Recommended resolution

The driver returned failure from its DriverEntry routine. Uninstall the driver, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade the driver.

On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard.
