Hi Folks,
I have an Epson Stylus Photo 895 (that's the one with the PCI slot for reading CF cards and the like) which was working without problems on Win98SE.
However, after upgrading to XP, the printer was recognised and installed ok but the PCI slot (on Win 98SE it was recognised as "storage" and showed up in Device Mgr as "Storage SP 895") comes up under "other" with a yellow question mark.
I've tried re-installing and also updating the driver using the Epson CD and even using internet search, but it still cannot find the drivers?
Any ideas please as it's really useful being able to pop your CF cards in this way.

Are you using XP SP2?

Have you completely removed this printer and all its' software and then tried rebooting and starting from scratch?

You could also try in the Device Manager to right click the yellow ! Other Device and Uninstall it and reboot. See if it gets detected.


Also in Services make sure that Plug and Play is set to Automatic and Started:

start/run services.msc

Thanks for the info.
I tried everything, re-installing, removing, starting from scratch, still the same.
Then I found the book that came with the printer.
It seems you have to remove everything and UNPLUG the printer.
Then you install the drivers first (to avoid picking up the standard win drivers) then you connect and hey presto, it loads the correct drivers and works.
