Super Socket 7 and new PCI Video Card

Hi there, I have an old Socket 7 motherboard (M598 PCChips 1998). I recently purchased a new PCI video card (HIS 128MB 64bit 9250 Radeon) for it and Im having trouble getting the video card to work. The motherboard has onboard 8MB AGP video. Works fine when I hook it up to onboard (without new pci card in). As soon as I connect the pci even with onboard connected, I get nothing. Tried with just new pci card without onboard and still nothing. Ive cleared cmos, tried everything in the Bios to try and start it, but to no avail. Im begining to think new pci cards are not compatible with this motherboard. Can anyone HELP! Arrggggh!

If you do not find in the BIOS Setup an option to switch from onboard to PCI Display then the board probably will not be upgradeable.

A BIOS upgrade might be worth a try.

Thanks for help. I have never flash the bios before on this motherboard. Can you explain to me how this is done, I am guessing I download the 598M zip files, 5&7, 8 and 9 (from 3rd http). After that im not sure. The unzipped files are ROM files. Thanks.

    Sorry for the confusion

I never tried to download the BIOS. Was just linking links.

Which I am still doing but hopefully one will click.

This motherboard and BIOS are only listed in archives so there is no updated support.

All that being said I did find the manual and the BIOS Setup settings:

    http://www.pcchipsusa.com/Manual/M598/M598.pdf

To enter the BIOS Setup program:
    1. Turn on or reboot the system. A screen appears with
    a series of diagnostic checks.
    2. When “Hit <DEL> if you want to run SETUP”
appears, press the <DEL> key to enter the BIOS
setup program. The following screen appears:

Primary Display Set this option to select the primary display
    subsystem in the computer.

    PCI/Plug and Play Setup

    Onboard AGP
    VGA
Set this option to select onboard AGP or PCI
VGA card for primary graphics adapter.
