    Computer Restarting

This problem just started happening about 4 days ago. My computer will just restart on its own. It was working fine before hand. Nothing new was installed. I have 2 hard drives and it restarts on the other one as well. I have run norton, ewido, adaware and other numerous programs and there was nothing but the usual.

Assuming XP change this setting in order to get error messages:

rt. click My Computer then click Properties then Advanced then Startup and Recovery Settings then unclick Automatically restart

Also you might try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Also: look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id & Description especially of errors that seem to coincide with this issue.
Also check the Information lines that might coincide with this issue.

How to view and manage event logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP

Okay I have gotten the blue screen of death numerous times

1 time it had this error: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

2 times it had this error: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Now i also did a system restore and that didnt help. Everytime I start the computer up I get my computer wanting to install "RAID Controller" Its some sort of hardware. Plus before I get my XP Boot up screen there is another screen saying something about RAID BIOS.

    Event ID: 1003
    Source: System Error
    Description: Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 00000000, parameter3 f42d62b8, parameter4 00000000.

    Event ID: 10010
    Source: DCOM
Despcription: The server {F3A614DC-ABE0-11D2-A441-00C04F795683} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

Most of the errors seem to be a System Error.

Unless your hard drives are in a RAID configuration you can disable RAID in you BIOS settings.

Also check msconfig | startup for any RAID utility. Uncheck it if found.

I would suggest running check disk:

    start > run > cmd
in the new window type chkdsk /f
when prompted to run on boot choose Y & reboot
this will check for & fix any disk errors.

    Also perhaps MemTest:

If you want to try and analyze the errors in more detail:

Go to start | search (type in) .dmp
Note the location of your .dmp files.

    Then:

    1) Download and install the
    Debugging Tools from Microsoft
    2) Download and install this
    debugwiz
    3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your .dmp file.
    4) After the Wiz creates a Text document attach it back to this thread.

    nezgrul,

Please start your own thread in the Hardware Forum. It is considered poor forum etiquette to jump into (Hijack) some one elses thread. Especially when the contents/subject matter are on an entirely different issue.
