iv just put this pc together and have an intermitent problem.
the pc runs fine only after playing a game for 1 hour or so it shuts its self down (as in power off) & the if left turns its self back on about 1 hour later.??
iv checked the cpu temp and its stable at about 46c
iv taken out all plug & play Hardware (except gfx card)

IM RUNNING Amd xp2800 barton cpu, MSI KT4 ultra MB, 768 mb pc 2700 ram, G force Gfx 5600td 256mb itergrated ram, 2x Hdd 140 gb total, and 2x dvd rom drives, i have on board sound and on board ethernet selected.

im totally out of ideas on this 1 any help would be great.

Could be wake on LAN settings..do you have a LAN card? Or Modem Wake settings..check your BIOS for these settings.

i have onboard LAN but iv checked the bios settings they are fine.

i do have an update for this problen though, iv been running the cpu hard using other programs and burning dvd's for the last 3 hours and its perfoming fine.
So the problem is a software issue, ( as it only happens when im in the middle of playing any game on my system usually about 50 mins to 1 hour in .)

in light of this new infomation has any 1 got any idea??

Check your memory with a memory checker - a memory issue cause my computer to act erratically but only when playing C&C Generals! Wierd , anyway the memory wasn't faulty it was just somehow incompatible with my board - try a different brand. Could also be your video card.

I have a similar problem but it is not related to one specific activity. After about an hour my laptop shuts down and I have to wait for about an hour before it will start up again. The exception is when my screen saver comes on (downloaded from corvettemuseum.com). After the screen transitions 2 - 3 times the laptop will shut off. I've checked the setting in my power manager but they are fine. I don't know what could be causing it to shut down. Any suggestions?
