    cpu temperature

my parents computer's cpu is at 70 degrees celcius... is that a hazard?
the computer restarts when i play dod on it. i altered some of the video card settings in the chipset cmos, and it didnt help.
i had to replace the heatsink/fan because it was broken. would the 70 degrees celcius on the cpu explain the random restarts?

Yes. It depends on the type of CPU but 70°C is at the high end for most.

Did you clean and reapply the thermal compound between the heat sink and CPU?

The fansink cannot be ruined, at least unless you trow it on ground or something. But the fan itself can, if its not working you might want to check the cable. If your pc is a bit old you should go and buy some thermal paste and open the fan and check if the paste is ok.
