comp boots up but no response
Hello, my other computer turns on and there is power running through the tower but there is no response on the monitor. Power is running through the monitor and all the cords are in place.
Specs: Asus A8N-SLi mother board

AMD Athlon 64 32mb
OS: Windows XP

Is this a new problem? Any new hardware? Was this system ever working OK? Any beeps?
-
System was working fine last night and always has been. No beeps at all no new hardware. Went to turn it on thismorning and nohing came up on the monitor. I have also tried an old monitor and still the same thing.

I would disconnect everything from the motherboard except the PSU; CPU; Graphics Card; one stick of RAM in slot 1 and see what happens.
Also re-seat the Graphics Card and RAM. Check the Graphics card fan for working and also for unusual heat or lack thereof.
Also keep an eye on the CPU fan. Feel the air off that fan as well. Does it get warm? Hot? Cold?
If you are not familiar with working inside you might want to read this on ESD:
ESD - What can I do to avoid damage
My next step would be try another Graphics Card assuming that the CPU is at least warm.
Another try would be to clear your CMOS. Are you familiar with that procedure?

I'd say his best option is a CMOS clear - fast, easy, effective
