    new mobo

    Hi Guys,

My old WinFast motherboard gave up the other day, and I'm trying to replace it with a Gigabyte 7NF-RZ. However, when I connect it up it emits 1 high beep and then a low beep and then it repeats itself before turning itself off. I've checked and it has the AWARD bios on it but I have no idea what could be wrong. I've replaced the RAM, checked the CPU on another machine, checked the graphics card, checked the Hard drive. All the fans and everything power on but it emits the beeps and then shuts down. Anyone with any ideas would be greatly recieved!

    thanks

    Hello Richski,

What CPU did you use, same question for the ram, your Gigabyte 7NF-RZ suports DDR400 only.

The CPU is an AMD Sempron 1000MHz although I also have a AMD athlon 1000MHz which I could swap (both the same fitting) but for now i've left it alone. The RAM is DDR not sure what type so i'll check that out johanus - thanks

    Hello Richski,

Both CPUs are fine for this board although the Athlon is the better CPU for this board IMO, check your ram, post back.

Well I swapped the CPU for the AMD Athlon and bang - it worked straight away, first time. The old CPU must've been damaged in some way (even though it worked ok on my other machine which is strange to say the least). However, not really bothered as everything is back working again.
