I have a WinfFast motherboard which has been giving me some major problems recently which are strange to say the least.

Basically 19/20 times the computer will not boot, i.e. blank screen, no beeps. But on the one time the BIOS is displyed it checks everything ok and goes to load the HD, although doing this is very slow and slower than normal. When it does this it gets stuck on the XP logo, even though I've tested the HD and RE-INSTALLED windows XP on it using another machine.

One strange problem is that my keyboard lights up at the beginning but when the computer starts up ok, the computer emits tiny audible beeps like when you press a key for too long. After this the keyboard won't work and I've had the same problem with the mouse (and on the rare occasion when I get into Windows the mouse seems to act of its own accord). Occasionally the computer will crash when I'm in Windows using the keyboard with no mouse attached so i have to hit the reset button and the process starts all over again. However this also seems to be intermittent as sometimes it will work and I can get into the BIOS and make my configuration changes. Also I've noticed in the few times I've managed to get into Windows recently that none of my USB connections work, they always come up with 'USB device not recognised'.

To date I have taken out all components and tested them, including the CPU. I have also reset the BIOS which works sometimes to allow me to use the keyboard but then it will again get stuck when loading BIOS or Windows.

I have a feeling that the PS2 sockets and the USB connections on my mobo have had it but before I have to cough up for a new one I was hoping someone had some ideas as it seems there is life in the old dog yet if I can get it stable!!

Thanks
