Dell M992 Monitor Issue
Recently I purchased a refurbished Dell M992 19-inch monitor, and I have been noticing some very concerning issues with it. Firstly, everything on the lower half of the screen has a red halo surrounding it. This 'artifact' only appears on resolutions above 800x600 (I run at 1280x1024), and honestly, I haven't a clue what might be causing it. This 'affected area' also suffers from a big drop off in sharpness; making anything within it nearly impossible to make out or read. Secondly, any objects placed near the furthest left or right regions of the monitor become slightly distorted and skewed.
Those are the two main issues I am noticing with this monitor. I'm hoping that somebody can shed some light on what may be causing these bothersome issues.
Thank you.

Hello Nacht,
If I'm correct this particular Dell monitor is an old CRT one, why would you buy it.
Assuming there is nothing wrong with your graphic card, connection or drivers, are you able to degauss using the on screen menu.
You say refurbished, what was done to it, do you know?.
I ask because if it's the model I think it is it's highly unlikely it could be refurbished anyway.
The symptoms you describe are classic over/under- firing of the guns as I call them basically this monitor has had it.

This particular model is from 2002. I tried degaussing as you suggested, but it had no positive effect on any of these issues. I'm not certain as to why it was refurbished (I wasn't the one who purchased it, rather it was given to me).

Hello Nacht,
Ok that make it a better proposition for repair but probably not a viable one.
I harp on about how good TFT/LCDs are and they are but CRTs are still good for graphics work.
That said and assuming you live in the UK it is posible to pick up a new 19in CRT for £55-00 and a 19in LCD for £132-00 delivered.
The above doesn't get your Monitor working as I sais IMO it's had it.
