Tried searching online for simular problems but havent had any luck, hopefully you can help.

I have just purchased a microphone for VOIP use.

There is clearly some kind of issue because when I go to 'Volume Control' and then 'Options'>'Properties' >'Recording'>'OK' The microphone is unchecked, and if i try to check the box it unchecks itself instantly.

My System is:
