Re: How to install a new hard drive?

    Thanks.
Also let me add that my pc was just shutting off and restarting on its own before

but has stopped doing that once I formated the HD. Could this be the power supply as

    well?

Anyway I was going to order a tester for about $22.00 to my door, but I can get a New

Power Supply for 26.67 to my door. It's only 160W and thats what I have in the HP now

160W. So I ordered the New Power supply. It should be here in a couple of days and if it's

not DOA then I will get back to you guys then.

I just might get a tester later anyway.

Again thanks for all the help so far.

That is a VERY small PSU.

    Here is a good calculator:

    eXtreme PSU Calculator v1.3

    http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculator.jsp

Most modern machines have a minimum of 350 and most use higher.

Just wanted to point this out but I hope it goes well. Let us know.

Thanks for the info. But I already ordered the smaller psu. I didn't think that a psu made

much difference. I'm learning! Thanks for the help. I'm still waiting for it to come in and

when it does I'll let you know how it works.

This is not my main PC it's a second one, a back up, but with this new info. I'll know next

    time.

Blimey Jeph, i used that calculator and it seems to reckon i will need 1300W PSU for a dual core 4400 and two 7900SLI cards - plus the usual you would expect to find... never seen one that powerful!

Problem with new psu. When I installed it and turned it on I get one beep then 3 short beeps then 4 short beeps then three short beeps and the monotor is looking for pc.

So I installed the old psu and it does the same with the same beeps.

Happy: sorry I mistook both of the above posts as yours Just noticed only the latter was. So ignore my dual questions and concentrate on the motherboard memory issue. Sorry for my confusion.

Do you know the ID of the motherboard?

    Edit post confusion:
You might want to review the calculator input but I can pretty safely say that with a dual core CPU and dual SLI cards you will need at least 500W but I would go with at least 600W.

Again the calculator may have dual PSU's in mind:

    2x650W = 1300W psu for X1800/X1900CF/SLI ?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For folks with dual core/sli or cf rigs, how you doing that with 7800gtx sli and x1800xt cf ?

    I'm thinking of using this
